Family Photo- take 25

We stood outside today and tried to take a family photo. Lance balanced the camera on top of the car and we set the timer. Those of you who have had experience with 1o month-olds may laugh at our attempts. We laughed too. Finally, we just snapped this one and called it good.

Recipe Troubles

A while ago, I decided to write down my favorite recipes and keep them in a different place from my less-favorite/still to try recipes. Since I did that, I've taken recipes from the favorite box and made them with disasterious results. I don't know if I mis-copied the recipe or if it was just a freak batch. Now I don't dare try them again because then I'll waste two batches of perfectly edible ingredients. Of course the recipes are from some random place where I'll never be able to find out what I did wrong...

Sigh.

Bear Lake

Lance and I joined some of his relatives at Bear Lake last week. Silas had several "firsts" while there: first camping trip, first time in a Lake, first time on a boat, and first time tasting mud.
I guess technically, he visited some of those places while in the womb, but I'm sure it's a pretty different experience.

We had a great weekend. I learned how to play Rage, a tweaked version of Mexican train and I learned I definitely need to learn to play Pinochle by next time. Silas (thanks to Uncle Jack) learned to give high-fives. Lance learned how to get up on the wake board. Combine all that with some squeaky cheese from Gossners on the way home and you have a successful trip.

Sleeping -literally, like a rock

Sometimes Silas goes to sleep and tucks his legs underneath him, so his bum is up in the air. Then, he'll rest his head on his arms. I don't see how that can be comfortable, but he likes it.

Summer Fun

Silas was a big fan of his new spacious 34" pool. He stayed in it for at least 2 minutes before climbing out. Then he decided to get back in because the grass felt funny on all that skin. He likes playing with his pool inside the house too. When there's no water, he can flip that thing all over the place. My favorite is when he gets stuck under it. He looks like a turtle.

Funny things kids do

Silas isn't old enough to say or do too many funny things, so I'll share a few that kids in my neighborhood did this week that made me laugh.

Sunday
Silas was chewing on his new sandals during sacrament meeting. It must have looked tasty, because the little boy in the row in front of us started doing the same thing. He's a few years older than Silas, so his mom didn't think it was as funny as I did.

Tuesday

Two little girls were out in the yard playing. One was on one side of the house, the other was on the other side of the house.

Girl #1: "Where are you?"
Girl #2: "Right here!"

Her tone was so funny. Like, "Duh!"

Little Boy Silas

Yesterday, a lady in my ward leaned over and said, "Today is the first day I've seen Silas look like a little boy and not a baby." At first, I thought she was going to say, "and not like a girl." Phew! I really did think he looked grown up with real shoes on and everything.
